Recollecting

I just saw this picture the other day and was reminded of how many wonderful times I've had with my family and how much I miss them.
This was taken when my sister came to visit in March. We were playing cards and Nora joined in. She is just the most precious little girl and I hate not being right with her as she grows up. She just keeps getting cuter and cuter.

I also really miss my adorable nephews Xan and Caspian. It's been over a year since I've seen them. However, this July I'm going to be able to finally hang out with them. I'm counting down the days. It'll be my very first time meeting little Caspian. I can't wait. I also miss my Grandma, who is also in this picture. She is just one of the most wonderful people in all the world.

And I can't leave out my sweet little buddy Aidan....

Dreams

Dreams
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Style Happy

I've been busy doing a bit of a make-over on my room, and couldn't wait to share. Since I'm going to be going to fashion school, I decided it was time to move my sewing machine up from our dungeon basement to my bright cheerful room, where it might be possible for me to get inspiration. However, in order to do that I had to down-size in the bed department. So, I got a twin bed which lead to getting a new comforter, of course, and I changed things around in my room. Ready for some pictures?

The Daisies on the wall were only $2 at a garage sale!

A portion of my wall in my room is taken up by a door to the bathroom. It's just an completely unnecessary extra door. So, in order to utilize that perfectly good space, I found this giant daisy picture and put it on top of my dresser so you cant really tell that there is a door there. My mother helped with the cleverness of that idea. I also found this plate at a garage sale with a painting done by Norman Rockwell. I must have been sitting in a train station somewhere when he just happened to be painting, that or it's my long lost twin.

This is my new sewing space. I'm super excited to use it! It's so much better than a terribly lonely and dark basement.

This is my super duper cute sewing box my mom got me for Christmas. The butterfly box I bought at Target for just $3. I'm currently using it for all my patterns, and let's just say that it's filled.

Ta-Dah! Why Hello there, Sewing Machine! So good to see you!

Plato's Closet

Plato's Closet is one of my favorite places to shop. It's a high end thrift store with tons of brand name clothes for amazing prices. All the clothes are great quality and many of them even have tags still on them. I've found some really great outfits there. Here are just a few:

I got this top for just $6 and the skinny jeans (which were basically brand new) for $9

A Delia's T-shirt just $6 (usually around $25)

I found this cute little jacket for $6. It was a steal.

A close-up of the little jacket. Aren't the buttons fantastic?

And the best bargain of the day. This little dress came with the original tags. Originally $148. I paid $18!

Shadows

Today I've been listening to this song over and over. I really like it a lot and it has a powerful message. You should listen to it!

Pay close attention to the best part of the song by Lecrae.
"With every breath I take, every heart beat
Sunrise and the moon lights in the dark street
Every glance, every dance, every note of a song
All a gift undeserved that I shouldn't have known
Every moment I lie, every moment I covet
I'm deserving to die, I'm earning Your judgement
I, without the cross there's only condemnation
If Jesus wasn't executed there's no celebration
So in times that are good, in times that are bad
For any time I've has it all I will be glad
And I will boast in the cross, I boast in His name
I will boast in the sunshine, boast in His reign
What's my life if it's not praising You
Another dollar in my bank account of vain pursuit, I do
That count my life as any value or precious at all
Let me finish my race, let me answer Your call"

Goodbye Cowboys

This week has been pretty great. We had employee appreciation day at work which = jean day! Best day ever. Another highlight of the week was that the Easter Bunny visited me at work. Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration. I actually didn't visit with him, but he did leave me a basket. Don't believe me?? Here's proof:

Yes, be jealous. The Easter Bunny brings me presents to work.

Actually, the Easter Bunny happens to be this really nice lady at work named Irene. I guess she just really likes me.
I also ate at Mom's Kitchen for the first time with my new bank teller friends on Saturday. And guess what I did today??? I went to Korma Sutra. The best Indian restaurant around. It's completely authentic, and I felt like I was right back in India. I miss that country and the food. It was great to have a little reminder of it today.
Now if you read my title you are probably wondering what any of this has to do with cowboys. Well, I'm getting to it. I'm a huge Amazing Race fan and when I say huge, I mean HUGE. I never miss a season. This season is All Stars so one of my very favorite teams from all time (the cowboys) have been back racing around the world and doing quite well. However, (sob) I regret to say last week was the end of the road for them. The came in last and were eliminated. I was in hysterics and was completely disappointed that alas, the Cowboys would not be winning Amazing Race after all. The newest episode will be airing tonight and I'll be watching it with a heavy heart knowing that the million dollars will go to some undeserving team. It's how almost every show works out, yet somehow every new season I have great hopes for my favorite team to win it all. Anyway, all this to say "Farewell, Cowboys."

Good ole' Jet and Cord always sportin' their cowboy hats.
